Speaking at the digital launch event for the SUV, Martin Schwenk, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said, "We now already have a very very good, positive feedback from a lot of customers, even before we have actually launched the vehicle. With seeing the positivity coming back into the market, and the expectations our customers would have from a GLS Maybach, we have already seen quite a strong pull into that car. For me, it's hard to imagine but we already have 50 orders for the first (batch of) GLS." Talking about the second batch of SUVs, he further added, "We have, right now, another set of customers configuring their vehicles and ordering it, and it will be then produced as well. In early next year, they will be then also here in India. So, I am really impressed about how we have taken speed with this vehicle."
India only gets one variant of the SUV, which is the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4Matic, and the company offers several personalisation options to its customers. It's the first SUV to be launched under the Maybach brand, and several visual elements signify that like - the large chrome grille, matching chrome detain on the bumper and skid plate and massive 22-inch alloy wheels, all offered as standard. The SUV gets more chrome inserts on side cladding, B-pillar, and bumpers. Plus, we have the Maybach logo on the D-pillar. The SUV also gets LED headlamps, adaptive LED taillamps, and optional 23-inch Maybach multi-spoke light-alloy wheels.
