Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch its flagship SUV - the Maybach GLS 600 4Matic, this week, on June 8, 2021. It is the first SUV to be launched by the company under the Maybach brand. The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 has been on sale in the global market since 2019, and we expect the SUV to come to India as a Completely Built Unit or CBU model. This means it will come with a heavy price tag and is expected to be the most expensive SUV from the Stuttgart-based carmaker in India.

Now, the regular Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV is priced in India at Rs. 1.05 crore (ex-showroom, India). Given the fact that all Maybach products have always been several notches higher compared to their regular counterparts - be it in terms of luxury features, creature comforts, and price - this SUV is also likely to maintain that tradition. So, we would expect the new Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4Matic to be launched at around Rs. 3 crore (ex-showroom India). In India, it will compete with uber-luxury SUVs like - Bentley Bentayga, Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Maserati Levante and the Range Rover Autobiography.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is based on the regular GLS, which means this one too is massive in size. However, to make it live up to the Maybach badging, the carmaker has added several premium elements like - a large Maybach-styled chrome radiator grille, along with an end-to-end chrome grille for the bumper, and a thick chrome insert attached to the skid plate. The SUV also gets chrome inserts on the B-pillar, the Maybach logo on the D-pillar, and massive 23-inch multi-spoke chrome wheels that come as an optional extra.
The SUV comes with a 3135 mm long wheelbase, out of which the rear passengers get legroom of 1103 mm
Inside, the Maybach GLS 600 gets the option for a 4- or 5-seater cabin, and it comes with a 3135 mm long wheelbase, out of which the rear passengers get a legroom of 1103 mm. The 4-seater version will get a fixed centre console that has space for a refrigerator to store champagne bottles, along with silver champagne flutes. Other features including Nappa leather upholstery, electronic panoramic sliding/tilting sunroof with opaque roller blinds, ventilated massaging seats, and more. Whichever one you opt for, the 4-seater or the 5-seater, the two outermost rear seats get reclining function.
