Mercedes-Benz's Chief Design Officer, Gorden Wagener teased design sketches of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Vision AMG EV Concept ahead of its global debut on May 19, 2022. The bespoke electric sports car from the AMG division of Mercedes-Benz uses a fully dedicated electric architecture built from the ground up in a two-door coupe body style slated to be production-ready by 2025. The design sketch doesn't reveal much about the upcoming concept but does give us a glimpse at the future of EVs coming from the performance division of the German marquee, which has already given us the souped-up version in the form of Mercedes-Benz AMG EQS, and Mercedes-Benz AMG EQE sedan.

Going by the sketches, the Mercedes-Benz Vision AMG EV Concept looks sharp from the front as well as the rear with a lustrous roofline that tapers into the arched lines of the rear fenders with angular elements matching the corners. The long bonnet line is a reference to the long line of Grand Tourers to have come out of Affalterbach's stable, and points to the direction the company will take with future electric AMGs, and not just build on the same platform as the ICE siblings.

Nevertheless, the 2025 timeline suggests that the company will instead introduce its long-time project, the Mercedes-AMG One hypercar first, with deliveries to begin later this year. The Mercedes-AMG One hypercar uses the same 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 powerplant coupled to four electric motors, sourced from Lewis Hamilton's Formula 1 race car. It promises more than 1,000 bhp and can accelerate from naught to 200 kmph in 6 seconds flat and achieves an electronically limited top speed of 349 kmph. However, the exact figures are not known yet.
