It's not an exclusive story that Mercedes-Benz had plans to bring Maybach to India. The company had announced plans to do so last year at the Geneva Motor Show. Back then the company said, "India has a strong appetite for chauffer driven super luxury cars and our top-end Maybach perfectly fits into that bracket."

We stake our claim that it's coming to India this year on the fact that the company has already imported one unit of the car. We will know more soon but the announcement might just be around the corner.

The Mercedes-Maybach is the pinnacle of luxury limousines and there is nothing more luxurious than this in the motoring world. The car is based on the W222 S-Class and measures in at 5453mm in length (20cm more than an S-Class) with a wheelbase of 3365mm (200mm more than the S-Class).

The increased length translates into more room for the passengers at the rear and because it oozes luxury, there are a whole bunch of features it comes with. There are two individual, electrically adjustable seats and there are a few changes to the exterior too; all of it to make it look luxurious.

Under the hood of the S500 is a 4.6-litre, V8 which produces 455bhp and develops 700Nm torque from as low as 1800rpm. The engine is mated to a 9-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and fuel economy is rated at 11.23 km/l. The price of the car will go into crores and we expect it to be around Rs. 2.5 crores.
