Mercedes-Benz India will bring in as many as 10 new products in the country by the end of 2022, the company announced at its Annual Press Conference held earlier today. Without revealing much details on these products, Martin Schwenk, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, did disclose that the German carmaker will expand its Maybach, AMG, and the EQ range in the country, which would include the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, and the Mercedes-Benz EQS electric sedan. Although unconfirmed, we also expect the brand with the three-pointed star to introduce the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Based on the new-generation S-Class, the Maybach S-Class is in fact 180mm longer than the standard S-Class.

The first product to be introduced in India is the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, which made its global debut in 2020, as a new generation product. Based on the new-generation S-Class, the Maybach S-Class is in fact 180mm longer than the standard S-Class, offering more rear legroom, more creature comfort, and more luxury as well. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class also heightens the comfort level for the passengers as it spoils them with its multi-contour massage for every seat, heated armrests, door panels, seat ventilation, and even a calf massager for the rear seat footrest. It also carries over the new MBUX infotainment system from the S-Class with five screens across the cabin. Power comes from a new 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbocharged motor coupled with a 48-volt mild-hybrid unit that develops a combined power output of 496bhp and 700Nm of peak torque, which is put down to the rear wheels using the 9-speed automatic transmission.

The new Mercedes-Benz EQS will be available in two trims - EQS 450+ and EQS 580 4MATIC.

Next up is the Mercedes-Benz EQS electric sedan, which has been on the company's India website since last year, but has only now gotten the green light. The second electric model to be introduced in India after the EQC electric SUV, the new EQS will be available in two trims - EQS 450+ and EQS 580 4MATIC. While the base EQS 450+ variant is equipped with a single electric motor on the rear axle developing 328bhp and 568Nm of peak torque, the top-spec EQS 580 4MATIC will transfer 516bhp and 855Nm of peak torque to all its wheels thanks to the electric motor on both front and rear axles.

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class looks very similar to the flagship S-Class sedan, a significant departure from its predecessor.

Lastly, we also expect Mercedes-Benz India to finally upgrade the C-Class in the country with its newer self, introduced back in February 2021. The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class looks very similar to the flagship S-Class sedan and is a significant departure from its predecessor. It looks sharper, bolder, and muscular than before not just on the outside, but also on the inside as it now features a new dashboard with a neatly integrated tablet-like touchscreen unit, which is raked at a certain angle. It also gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster along with an 11.9-inch touchscreen for the second-generation MBUX infotainment system. Internationally, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class is offered with a slew of engine and transmission options in both petrol and diesel guises. Both the engines come with an integrated starter-generator (ISG) which uses a 48-volt battery enabling energy recovery.
