Mercedes-Benz Expands Presence In South India With 3 New Dealerships

With back-to-back launches this year, Mercedes-Benz India has been pro-active with its product line-up and is also working towards being more accessible across the country. The German auto giant recently inaugurated three new dealerships, expanding presence in South India. The three new outlets are located in Thrissur, Kerala; Bangalore, Karnataka; and Salem, Tamil Nadu. Mercedes is eyeing the Tier II and III markets that promise more potential with its growing economy. All three outlets offer sales and service support.

The Mercedes-Benz dealership located in Thrissur has been named Bridgeway Motors. The 16,000 sq.ft outlet will not only meet the demands of the city but will also provide access to neighbouring cities and towns including Chalakkudi, Gurvayoor, Irinjalakuda and Palakkad. The service centre at the dealership is equipped with eight bays for repairs. The outlet employs 37 professionals to get the job.done.
Meanwhile, the Bangalore outlet is called Sundaram Motors located in Hoodie and is a massive 80,000 sq.ft. space, which comes with a wide display area, seven service bays and employs 27 personnel. The automaker says the dealership will also come with the premium express service, which includes a Wi-Fi enabled customer lounge. Lastly, the Salem dealership is also being handled by Sundaram Motors and is located in Konerikarai. The 15,000 sq.ft. outlet gets five bays and has hired 13 professionals for the job.

With the three new outlets, the total number of Mercedes-Benz dealerships in the country has now grown to 90 across 44 cities. The expansion in smaller cities and towns is also a reminder of the ever increasing purchasing capacity in these markets. This also opens up a whole lot of potential for luxury car makers as the urban markets begin to saturate in terms of sales.
More recently, Mercedes also started its new Brand Tour programme, which organises an experiential zone for potential customers in Tier II and III markets in India. The programme will conduct off-road drives and the pre-safe experience on its sedans. The Brand Tour is expected to hit 40 cities by the end of this year.
