Highlights

Mercedes-Benz India has confirmed to bring in the AMG GT, the spiritual successor of the SLS AMG, to the Indian market by the end of this year. The company has already imported the AMG GT S version to India and we'll soon hear from them about its launch.

The Mercedes-AMG GT is already on sale in global markets, and competes against the likes of Porshce 911 Turbo, Jaguar F-Type and others in the league. Based on the shortened SLA AMG's platform, the AMG GT is stiffer and lighter than the former. The vehicle takes its design inspiration from the Vision Gran Turismo concept.

Powering the AMG GT is a 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 engine that is available in two states of tunes - 456bhp (AMG GT) and 503bhp (AMG GT S). Mated to a 7-speed dual clutch Gertarg transmission, the AMG GT accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in 3.9 seconds, whereas the AMG GT S takes 3.7 seconds to do the same.

    Mercedes-AMG GT Edition 1 Interior

Though there is no clarity about the variant of the car that will come to India, we believe it might be the Mercedes-AMG GT Edition 1 that is based on the more powerful AMG GT S. The Edition 1 comes with an exclusive aerodynamic kit that includes blackened grille, mirrors, diffuser and tail-pipe, besides a front splitter, wheel archest, rear spoiler and a carbon-fiber roof.
