Highlights
- The Mercedes-AMG GT R Will be the fastest GT ever
- The car gets 19-inch wheels at front and 20-inch wheels at rear
- It now has 577bhp to offer and goes from 0-100km/h in just 3.6 seconds
While it is true that the car has been unveiled in an exclusive "AMG Green Hell Magno" colour, it is not the real reason why it has been named the beast of Green Hell. Mercedes-AMG has extensively tested the car at Nurburgring a.k.a. Green Hell, the toughest race track in the world and claims that the car's roots are firmly embedded in the racetrack. And there are many things in the car the back this claim.
Starting with the numbers, the GT R weighs at 1,554 kg, which is as good 90 kg lighter that the GT S version. The car is powered by the 4.0-litre V-8 with twin turbochargers and direct injection that churns out a whooping 577bhp and develops peak torque of 700Nm. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed, AMG SPEEDSHIFT, dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear wheels, and propels the car to go from 0 to 100 km/h in mere 3.6 seconds, before it reaches its top speed of 318 km/h.
Coming to the other aspects that aid this beast, the AMG GT R comes with wider front and rear wings, which allow an increased track width for optimum grip and even higher cornering speeds. The lightweight forged wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 as standard are likewise designed for maximum driving dynamics.
The car gets 19-inch wheels at front and 20-inch wheels at rear. The same applies to other new features such as the active rear-wheel steering, the nine-way adjustable traction control system and the adjustable coil-over suspension with additional electronic control. Whereas the new front profile with active elements, the large rear aerofoil and the new rear fascia with double diffuser enhance aerodynamic efficiency and help ensure optimum grip.
Inside the cabin, Mercedes-AMG has fitted the car with the standard AMG-style interior with race-style seats wrapped in black Nappa leather and DINAMICA microfiber. Want to add a bit of contrast, you get to add an optional yellow seatbelts and similarly coloured yellow badging on the headrest.
