The Mercedes-Benz GLB was unveiled in June this year and just three months later we'll get to see a hotter and performance oriented spec of the seven-seater compact luxury SUV. The German carmaker has confirmed that the GLB AMG will make its debut at the upcoming International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. However, Mercedes is yet to reveal further details on the model and we are not sure if the performance SUV will wear the GLB 35 badge or GLB 45 badge. In either case, the motor will remain the same but will be tuned accordingly.

The GLB AMG 35 will be powered by the 298 bhp, 2-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine while the GLB AMG 45 which would be the more powerful iteration and will use the same motor in its highest state of tune, which is upwards of 400 bhp. The regular Mercedes-Benz GLB crossover sources power form the same 2-litre, four-cylinder engine which churns out 218 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque.

The new Mercedes-AMG GLB will be among several new models including an electric EQ show car which the company plans to showcase at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Moreover, Ola Kallenius who is the new Chairman of Daimller AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz will give an outlook on the future of Mercedes-Benz. The company is also planning to showcase a range of plug-in hybrid models which will be a first for Mercedes-Benz.
