McLaren P1 does a Sub-seven minute lap at the Nurburgring

From the start, McLaren had always maintained that the P1 has been developed with one clear goal - to be the best driver's car on both road and track. Having settled with their goal, McLaren brought the P1 to the legendary Nurburgring to push this supercar to the limit.

The P1 had to go around the 20.8 km Nurburgring and try to make a name for itself by doing that stretch in under 7 minutes. It might sound easy for a car that churns out 903 bhp (3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 727 horsepower and a 176 horsepower electric motor)

But the McLaren P1 had to tackle more than 150 corners, 984 feet of elevation changes, cornering forces up to 2g and to add to that maintain an average speed in excess of 178km/h. So what happened?

The McLaren P1 did it all in less than seven minutes but we still don't know the exact time. We've seen the Porsche 918 Spyder do it in 6:57 to join the sub-seven club, so has the P1 bettered that time? We don't know yet.
