Maruti Suzuki Ignis Spotted Sans Camouflage Ahead Of Launch

- Maruti Suzuki will launch the Ignis on 13th January 2016
- The Ignis will be retailed in India via Nexa showrooms
- Maruti will unveil the production version of the car this week
Maruti Ignis, the long awaited subcompact crossover from the Indo-Japanese carmaker was recently spotted in India sans camouflage. Maruti officially unveiled the production version of the car last week on 15th December, with the launch slated for 13th January 2017. And this is what the car will look like. In fact, the car has already made its European debut this year at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
Judging by the images, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis seen here appears to be the top-of-the-line variant and the exterior profile of the car remains largely identical to the prototype we saw at the Auto Expo. The car still carries its tall-boy stance with a host of premium features like - black alloy wheels, plastic underbody cladding, electrical ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights and a high shoulder line that goes well with its crossover nature.

While the front of the car isn't visible in this image, the upcoming Ignis comes with features like projector headlamps, U-shaped LED daytime running lights, and a chrome-lined front grille among others. The rear profile on the other hand features LED tail lamps, a well-sculpted hatch door, rear windshield wiper and plastic cladding on the rear bumper. Inside, there will be a touchscreen infotainment system that will come equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Expect to see the driver side airbag as standard on all models. More recently, the Euro-spec version of the model received 3 stars in the Euro NCAP crash test results.
Under the hood, the car is likely to get only the 1.0-litre BoosterJet petrol engine from the Baleno RS, whereas the diesel could be added to the variant line up later in the timeline. Transmission options, on the other hand, will possibly include a 5-speed manual gearbox, with either a CVT unit or an AMT unit as an option.
In India, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be retailed through Maruti's NEXA dealership chain and will compete with the likes of Mahindra XUV100 and the upcoming Chevrolet Beat Activ.
