The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is currently one of the most popular cars in India's premium hatchback segment. In fact, the car is one of the best-selling models in the Indo-Japanese automakers stable, and it has been the country's 'Top 10 Best-Selling Cars' almost since it was first launched, in October 2015. Maruti Suzuki India launched a facelift for the premium hatchback in January 2019, and later, the same year, the company launched the BS6 version of the Baleno in India. It's still a very popular choice among Indian car buyers and here are the car's top 5 highlights.

1. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is based on the company's Heartect platform, the company's lightweight, yet robust architecture which adds to its enjoyable driving dynamics. The car's soft suspension and light steering also make it a great car for the city.

2. The Baleno is also high on features. The exterior of the car comes with projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, diamond-cut alloy wheels, and LED taillamps. Other features also include auto-headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and more.

3. The Baleno gets a neat cabin with a dark interior and premium fabric upholstery. The car also gets a 7-inch touchscreen system equipped with Maruti's Smartplay Studio, offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation and more. The car also gets automatic climate control, power windows, a multi-functional steering wheel and more.

4. In terms of safety features it gets dual airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution), ISOFIX child seat mounts and Rear parking sensors are standard across the range. Optional features include rear parking camera, auto headlamps, fog lamps, and more.

5. The Baleno is a petrol-only car and it gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine offered in two iterations - VVT and Dual VVT. The 1.2-litre VVT engine makes about 82 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque, while mated to a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. The 1.2-litre Dual VVT engine is paired with SHVS smart hybrid tech and makes around 89 bhp and the same 113 Nm of torque. This one comes mated to a 5-speed manual unit as standard.
