Highlights

The next all-new product from Maruti Suzuki India will be the Baleno hatchback (codenamed YRA), product of which has already begun at the company's Manser based facility. This will be the second Maruti Suzuki product to be sold exclusively through the company's premium dealership range - Nexa.

While the European Baleno will get a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged Boosterjet engine, the India-bound model could be offered with a 1.3-litre multijet diesel engine and a more-powerful version of the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol unit.

The Suzuki Baleno is based on the Japanese carmaker's new-generation platform, which has been designed to efficiently increase vehicle's rigidity while reducing its weight via redesign of the under-body structure and optimising overall vehicle design including parts mounted under-body.

Coming to dimensions, the Suzuki Baleno measures 4023mm in length, 1450mm in height, 1920mm in width and has a wheelbase of 2520mm. Though there is no clarity if the India-bound Maruti Suzuki YRA will have the similar dimensions or not.

Upon its launch, the Maruti Suzuki YRA will take on the likes of Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.
