Locally Assembled Honda CBR 650 to be Launched in First Half of 2015

Highlights
A couple of weeks ago, we told you about Honda's plans to produce its high-end sports motorcycle - CBR-650 in the country from next year. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), who is initiating its 'Make in India' programme with the CBR 650, now intends to launch the model by the first half of 2015.
The company has been looking to push the sales of high performance bikes in the Indian market, and the plan to assemble them here, which will thus make its bikes affordable, ought to help the company gain some traction in the high-performance segment. Currently HMSI only imports bikes, whose price tags range from Rs 14 lakh - Rs 31 lakh. However, considering the fact that the upcoming CBR 650 will be local assembled, expect Honda to offer it for less than Rs 10 lakh.
Top folks at the company further said that the company's decision to locally assemble other high-end bikes will depend on how the market responds to the CBR 650.
Honda's website states that the CBR 650 is a 649cc sports bike which employs the 4-cylinder double overhead camshaft (DOHC) engine technology and features a 6-speed gearbox.
