Pierer Mobility Group, the parent company of KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas brands has reported record motorcycle sales for 2021. With 3,32,881 motorcycles sold in 2021, the company has announced its 11th record year in a row and a sales volume increase of 23 per cent over 2020, when it had sold 2,70,407 motorcycles. While 2020 seems to have been particularly harsh for all brands, but motorcycle sales across brands seem to have picked up in 2021, with brands like Ducati and BMW Motorrad reporting best-ever sales numbers. In 2020, Pierer Mobility's sales were down, hampered by the pandemic, compared to 2019, when the company sold 2,80,099 bikes. But the 2021 sales volumes seem to reflect gains even over the pre-pandemic sales numbers of 2019. And this is a trend witnessed across many brands.

Pierer Mobility didn't break down individual region-wise numbers across North America, India and Australia. But it's to be noted that a number of KTM small-displacement models are made-in-India by Bajaj Auto, which hold significant equity in Pierer Mobility. And the KTM models from 125 cc to 390 cc across street and adventure models have established a strong market in the Indian domestic market. The 2021 Annual Report of the company is expected sometime next month where more details on the finances, as well as volumes across regions are expected.
