KTM 800 Adventure Bike Spotted Testing
Highlights
- The new KTM 800 Adventure has been spotted testing for the first time
- The bike will rival the likes of Triumph Tiger 800 and Honda Africa Twin
- The new 800cc parallel-twin engine will also power the upcoming 800 Duke
Once launched, the new KTM 800 Adventure will be pitted against the likes of the Triumph Tiger 800 series, Honda Africa Twin and the BMW F 800 GS among others. And aiding it in this crusade will be a new 800cc parallel-twin engine that is also set to power KTM's upcoming naked motorcycle, the 800 Duke. The KTM 800 Duke will be the first of the two bikes to be launched, taking one of the top positions in KTM's naked range of bikes.
On the other hand, the same engine will be at the base of the adventure motorcycles range in KTM's portfolio. This new KTM 800 Adventure will cater to those who want something less intimidating, and maybe easier on the wallet, than the current 1050 or 1190 options. While there is a lot that is yet to be know about the bike, the spy shots reveal that the new 800 Adventure model will come with a new swingarm, rear petal disc brake and high mounted exhaust among others.
Now, the new 800 family is very important for KTM as the Austrian marque plans to plug the gaps in its range with these new bikes. KTM bosses have invested some huge amount of time and money into this project in order to develop new chassis and engine platforms for its future models. The new platform will also underpin the company's Husqvarna motorcycles so you can imagine the how critical this is for KTM.
While KTM hasn't revealed a timeline for the bike yet, the new KTM 800 Adventure is expected to hit the market towards the end of 2017.
