Kia EV9 Electric SUV Undergoes Final Testing Ahead Of Global Debut Next Year

Kia has revealed details of the final intensive testing program undertaken by the Kia EV9 ahead of its world debut in 2023. Developed over a period of 44 months at Kia’s global Namyang R&D centre in Korea, the Kia EV9 electric SUV will become the brand’s flagship model to revolutionise the large electric SUV segment, while accelerating Kia’s brand transformation. In its final testing phase, the Kia EV9 was subjected to a demanding verification program that involved 4WD climbing hill and rough terrain tracks, as well as deep-water wading to ensure maximum reliability even in the most challenging conditions.

The Kia development team also put the electric SUV over cobbled road surfaces to test the Kia EV9’s ride comfort and build quality over harshest possible trials. In addition to the test programme at Namyang R&D centre, like every Kia model, the EV9 has also been subjected to a testing regimen in locations all over the globe. Set to be formally introduced in the first quarter of 2023, the Kia EV9 will follow in the footsteps of the brand’s all-electric EV6. It is also built on the same advanced Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) platform which will also spawn the company’s future electric products.

Showcased at the 2021 AutoMobility LA, the new Kia EV9 electric SUV will be based on the Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy. The Kia EV9 electric SUV will measure 4,930 mm in length, 2,055 mm in width, 1,790 mm in height and sits on a wheelbase of 3,100 mm. Kia also says that the new Kia EV9 electric SUV will deliver a driving range of 482 km and can be charged from 10-80 per cent within 30 minutes from its 350-kW fast charger.
