Kerala-Based Auto Driver Modifies His Rickshaw To Resemble The Tata Nano
Highlights
- The modifications made to the auto are quite tastefully done
- The owner has used actual body parts of the Nano as well
- Earlier an auto owner had modified his rickshaw to resemble a Scorpio SUV
Just recently we told you about a Kerala-based auto rickshaw driver who modified his auto rickshaw to look like the Mahindra Scorpio from the rear. The auto was so unique that Anand Mahindra, the Executive Chairman and Managing Director of Mahindra Group, tracked the owner down and bought the auto from him for his museum and in exchange, he gave him a Mahindra Supro. It seems that in God's Own Country, Kerala, there are many such examples. We recently came across another such uniquely modified auto rickshaws. The owner clearly seems to be a fan of Tata Motors as his auto bears resemblance to none other than the Tata Nano.
This quirky-looking Nano-Auto is uniquely styled and the modification looks quite good. The owner has gone for a blue and black two-tone colour with a matte finish along with heavy usage of chrome, especially up front. The modification of the auto appears to be still under development as indicated by the lack of headlamp and other accessories. There is a custom designed body kit that looks like the grille section of a car with a logo of, wait for it, Audi! Yes, you read that right and it's an amalgamation of sorts - a Nano with an Audi badge. There are empty housings on either side of the pseudo grille that appears to be for additional lightings and indicators.
It is the rear of the Nano-Auto that actually resembles the small car. The doors, fenders, and bumper come directly from the Nano and yes the rear has doors which are again unique for an auto rickshaw. The auto comes with a proper B and C-pillar along with flared rear wheel arches and side body cladding for impact protection. Seeing all this we have to say it is, in fact, a thoughtfully designed vehicle. There are also roof rails and a spoiler on the auto and you do not get those even in the actual car. The cabin of the auto has also been smartly modified with a single car seat up front for the driver and the bench seat at the rear for the passengers.
The effort genuinely needs to be applauded and that's exactly what Anand Mahindra did. We wonder if we'll see a similar gesture from Tata Motors but then again; after having put in so much effort into the rickshaw, will the owner be willing to sell it.
