The Federation of Motor Sport Clubs of India (FMSCI) has nominated Formula 2 driver Jehan Daruvala for the 2021 Arjuna Award - the highest civilian honour for sports in the country. The nomination comes on the back of a fantastic performance from the driver, who has been representing India on the global stage in the FIA F2 Championship. The Carlin Motorsport driver took his maiden win in F2 last year, while the current season saw the driver bag several podiums placing him seventh in the driver standings. Apart from Jehan, the FMSCI also nominated Akbar Ebrahim, President of the motorsport body, for the Dronacharya award, while Musa Sherif has been nominated for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.

Speaking about his nomination, Jehan Daruvala told carandbike, "I'm extremely honoured to be nominated by the FMSCI for the prestigious Arjuna Award. It has been my pride to represent the country for the last 12 years on a global platform, and I'm humbled that my efforts have been recognised. I hope this inspires the younger generation to pursue their motorsport dreams."
The moment is indeed a proud one for Jehan who has been one of the more popular Indian names on a global motorsport scale. The driver was also awarded the 2021 carandbike Motorsport of the year title earlier in the year for his strong international performance in Formula 2. The Mumbai-based racer is part of the Red Bull Racing Junior driver program and has a chance of bagging a seat in Formula 1 in the future. So far, only two Indian drivers have managed to bag a seat in F1 - Narain Karthikeyan and Karun Chandhok.
With respect to Akbar Ebrahim, the former multiple national championship winner has had an illustrious career in domestic racing and has also been a racing coach and an instructor. Ebrahim also runs Meco Motorsports in Bengaluru, training and mentoring young drivers in karting at the grassroots level.
Lastly, Musa Sherif is one of the most celebrated names in rallying in India. He has participated in a total of 296 rallies including 68 international rallies, and has been a navigator in 49 rallies. Sherif has also won seven INRC titles along with Gaurav Gill, along with the IRC, INSUV, Malaysian 4x4 Championship, Malaysian GP N Championship, APRC2 Asia Cup, and the UAE Championship FWD Class.
