Jeep Wagoneer Flagship Luxury SUV Spied Testing

- Jeep Wagoneer will feature a seven seat layout
- Long wheelbase Jeep Wagoneer will be have 'Grand' moniker
- Production version expected as a 2020 model
The fact that Jeep is building a flagship SUV that will sit above the Cherokee/Grand Cherokee range is known. With the launch of the Wagoneer family destined for 2019 as a 2020 model year, new spy pictures of the prototype undergoing testing have surfaced once again. The new Jeep Wagoneer will be a luxury SUV with 7 seats or three row seating and will be large enough and luxurious enough to take on the likes of the Range Rover and the Mercedes-Benz GLS amongst other competition from American SUVs from Cadillac, GMC, etc. The new Jeep Wagoneer will also take on the likes of the new BMW X7, which has already been showcased in concept form and will soon be revealed in production form later this year.

The new Jeep Wagoneer will be available in two length options and will be badged 'Wagoneer' and 'Grand Wagoneer'. Both cars will have a seven seat or three row seating option but rumour suggest the Grand Wagoneer could also offer a more opulent seating layout at a higher price point. Jeep is also said to be using Aluminium instead of steel to keep the weight down. The design of the Wagoneer family will also have a stark resemblance to the one seen on the Cherokee (in particular the Grand Cherokee) albeit much larger and more refined. Of course, the Wagoneer will have signature seven slat grille up front and as per the spy pics, will be flanked by sharp and horizontally placed headlamps with a separate light cluster underneath too.

At the rear, the Jeep Wagoneer will have horizontal tail lamps with a separate fog lamp/reflector cluster on the bottom along with a set of twin trapezoidal exhaust tips. In fact, if the spy pics do mimic the design drawings for the SUV that were leaked a while ago. The Jeep Wagoneer will be the second new SUV that Jeep will launch in the next two years, with the first one being the smaller subcompact SUV that is expected sometime later this year.
