With the launch of the new Jeep Compass SUV, it finally looks like the American carmaker will be able to make a lasting impact in the Indian car market. Introduced at a starting price of Rs. 14.65 lakh, going up to Rs. 20.65 lakh, the Jeep Compass has essentially become one of the most desirable SUVs in the sub-20 lakh segment. The SUV predominantly comes in three variants - Sport, Longitude and Limited, which are further classified into multiple iterations based optional features and add-on equipment. So, essentially you have 7 variants to choose from - Sport, Longitude, Longitude Option, Limited, Limited Option, Limited 4x4 and Limited 4x4 Option.
While all three variants have the 2-litre diesel engine on offer, the 1.4-litre petrol mill is only available in the Sport and Limited trims. Having said that, features offered with each of the variants are same in both, the petrol and diesel versions. And here's the detailed breakdown of the variants with respect to features and variants.
Jeep Compass Sport
Most of the features offered across the variant range are pretty much standard save a list of premium offerings that differentiate them from one another. The exterior styling in particular largely remains the same in all three models. The entry-level Jeep Compass Sport variant, in particular, comes with features like the signature 7-slot grille with chrome rings, floating roof design, body colour ORVMs with turn signal lights, body colour door handles, quad halogen headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, rear spoilers and 16-inch alloy wheels.
The cabin comes with good fit and finish and offers a host of comfort features and smart gizmos. The dashboard looks neat and well-equipped and comes with a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment display with UConnect that offers an inbuilt compass, voice command, Bluetooth and AUX-IN connectivity. You also get 4 speakers, 2 USB ports, and a 12V power outlet. Other comfort and convenience features include - all-black interior, height adjustable driver seat, one touch up/down front power windows, full-length centre console with sliding arm rest. Remote keyless entry is also a part of the package.
On the safety front, the feature list for all three models is largely the same with offerings like - electronic parking brakes, ABS with EBD, driver and passenger airbags, traction control, electronic stability control (ESC), electronic roll mitigation, rear defogger, and double crank prevention system. Other features include hill start assist and all-season tyres.
Jeep Compass Longitude
As mentioned before, the Jeep Compass Longitude comes with the same exterior features as the Sport variant with the key difference being 17-inch alloys instead of the 16-inchers, front cornering fog lamps and rear fog lamps. The interior and the cabin features are also carried over from the Sport variant along with some additional features like - passive keyless entry and engine start/stop button, new sandstorm sedoso fabric interior and dark saddle stitching and 6-speakers instead of 4. Safety features on the other hand, remain exactly the same as the Sport with no changes or additions what so ever.
The Compass Longitude Options pack, however, offers some updates and add-ons like - roof rails, Bi-functional projector headlamps, rear parcel shelf, a bigger 7-inch touchscreen system equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, active carbon air filter and LED position lights.
Jeep Compass Limited
The top-end Jeep Compass Limited variant comes in two options - Limited, Limited 4x4 with the option package for both the trim options. There are only two features that the option package offers in addition to the standard features of the Limited trim - dual tone roof, and Bi-Xenon intensity discharge headlamps. Other features offered in the Limited and the Limited 4x4 trims have been carried over from the Longitude variant along with some add-ons. So the additional features and equipment include - LED tail lamps, LED position lights, and reverse parking camera. The cabin includes Ski-Grey Mckinley leather interior with leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel and door scuff plates. The 4x4 trim gets additional equipment like - an all-wheel-drive system, Selec-Terrain driving modes selector, and 6 airbags among others.
