- Jaguar might also work on a diesel-electric hybrid version of the J-Pace
There have been rumours, whispers of this product being tested. Behold, the Jaguar J-Pace. This is the all-electric version the Jaguar F-Pace, which is yet to hit the markets but has been fully revealed. As we always knew, Jaguar has been big on technology and it did not waste any time on working on a fully electric model of its first ever SUV offering, knowing fully well that the first step towards sustainable mobility is going electric. From the photographs, it is very evident that the camouflaged test mule is an F-Pace or a derivative of the F-Pace. It is still too early for Jaguar to be working on a facelift or an update.
If you look at the photographs closely enough, you will find a pair of exhaust pipes but this is just a test mule. The source of power on the J-Pace will be fully electric. Jaguar also might work on a diesel-electric hybrid version of the J-Pace, which might see the light of the day a few years down the line along with a petrol-electric hybrid as well. But from what we gather, these models will be area-specific only and not all the models will be sold across the globe. The British carmaker had showcased few upcoming technologies for fully electric, mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid car models.
It is also likely that Jaguar might offer its upcoming range of electric vehicles under a sub-brand or with a reasonably different body structure. The prime example being that of BMW and its 'i' models. When launched, the Jaguar J-Pace will be going up against the Tesla Model X, BMW X5 Plugin Hybrid, Mercedes-Benz GLE and so on. There is absolutely no words on specifications and the equipment that will be on offer on the Jaguar J-Pace. But it being a Jaguar, be sure that it will be fully loaded.
