Isuzu Exempt From Motor Vehicles Tax In Andhra Pradesh

Isuzu's range of pickups, both for the commercial market and for the private market and its MU7 SUV has been exempted by the Andhra Pradesh government from paying one time road tax at the time of registration. This exemption is from November 18, 2016 to March 31, 2021 and will apply to both commercially and privately registered vehicles. Currently, for a private vehicle owner, the tax payable is about 14 percent of market value whereas for a commercial vehicle owner, the annual tax is about Rs 800.
The Isuzu production facility is also located in Andhra Pradesh and is currently the only automotive manufacturing unit in the state since the Mahindra plat located in Zahirabad is now a part of the state of Telangana. The exemptions could also be a move by the government of Andhra Pradesh to attract more manufacturers to set up a plant in the state. The production facility currently can make about 50,000 units every year with the provision of increase that figure to 1,20,000 units.
The exemptions for the lifetime tax are also applicable to all vehicles that Isuzu launches in the near future up to the March 31, 2021 date. Isuzu currently sells four products in India, two for the commercial market and two for the private sector. The commercial vehicles include the D-Max (single cab pickup) and the D-Max S-Cab (double cab pickup). The private vehicles include the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross and the MU-7 SUV.
