Isuzu India has initiated a recall for the D-Max V-Cross pickup after receiving reports of jerky power delivery in lower rpms. In a bid to fix the issue, the Japanese carmaker is recalling the pickup across the country and will be installing a software upgrade to the vehicle's Engine Control Unit (ECU).

The issue was reported by many owners complaining of erratic jerks around 1800rpm on the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. Moreover, owners complained that the power delivery wasn't smooth across the rev range. Isuzu took a note of this problem and has zeroed the issue to the engine mapping. The company says the software upgrade on the ECU will take approximately 30 minutes and offers smoother delivery of power.

The recall extends to all Isuzuki V-Max D-Cross owners and the company has already commenced contacting customers to bring in the pickup for the upgrade. Owners who are yet to get a call from the automaker can always connect with their respective dealership about the same. As with all recalls, the complete recall exercise is free of charge.

In addition, there have been reports of certain customers facing issues with the rear leaf spring that makes clanking sounds over undulations. This issue however, is not part of the recall and instead will be inspected on a case-to-case basis.

Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is quite the imposing pickup with a massive road presence. Power comes from a 2.5-litre diesel engine that churns out 134bhp and 320Nm of torque. The motor comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and comes with 4WD system as standard. The pickup was launched in India in May this year with prices starting at Rs. 12.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
