IOC To Set Up EV Charging Facilities At 100 Outlets Across Maharashtra

State-owned oil retailer Indian Oil plans to set up electric vehicle charging facilities at its 100 outlets across Maharashtra. According to reports, the oil marketing company plans to set up these charging points by the end of this financial year. Out of these 100 outlets, five will be installed in the Marathwada region, a senior Indian Oil official told PTI. IOCL's general manager (Retail Sales) Ajay Kumar Shrivastav reportedly attended an event in Aurangabad for setting up of a fuel pump with electric charging points and a Khadi outlet under the 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' initiative.

The official informed that the Aurangabad rural police-run outlet is the only outlet selected in 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' across Maharashtra, that became operational last year. The PTI report also stated that the Indian Oil Head (Maharashtra Office) Anirban Ghosh inaugurated the pump through an online medium in the presence of DYSP Vishal Nehul.
During the inauguration of the fuel pump, Shrivastav said to PTI, "We have added a facility of charging electric vehicles here after the announcement of the 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' initiative on this pump."
The official also informed that the state-run oil marketing company (OMC) is planning to install around 100 electric vehicle charging points in Maharashtra by the end of this financial year. He said, "Five will be installed in the Marathwada region. Wherever needed, the charging guns will be upgraded from 15 KW capacities to 45 KW. If needed we can install a new facility also."
Further talking on fuel sales, Shrivastav said, "The sale of petrol has reached to the pre-COVID-19 situation but there is still a shortfall of 5-6 per cent in terms of diesel sale."
