"We are delighted that the new Skoda Karoq has also passed the Euro NCAP tests with flying colours," says Skoda Board Member for Technical Development, Christian Strube. "We are constantly working on optimising the passive and active safety of our models and developing occupant and pedestrian protection, as well as assistance systems. Numerous driver assistance systems are installed in the Karoq that would otherwise only be found in higher vehicle classes," says Strube.
The company says that the high level of passive safety is all because of the high torsional rigidity, big deformation zones and extensive use of high-strength and ultra-high strength steel. Moreover, Skoda offers seven airbags as standard which are for the driver, passenger, side, head and the knees. The SUV also gets 'Whiplash Optimised Headrests' which protects the occupants from whiplash in case of a rear-end collision. There ISOFIX as standard as well. Additionally, there is the pro-active occupant protection system which closes open windows and tightens the seat belts in case of a collision.
