India Bike Week 2017: Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster To Be Unveiled
Highlights
- Bonneville Speedmaster is based on the Bonneville Bobber
- The Speedmaster will be the most affordable cruiser from Triumph
- Triumph will launch the Speedmaster in India sometime in early 2018
Triumph Motorcycles will unveil its upcoming new model, the Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster at the India Bike Week on November 24. The Bonneville Speedmaster was first unveiled at the British motorcycle manufacturer's headquarters in Hinckley last month. The Bonneville Speedmaster is based on the Triumph Bonneville Bobber, but gets cruiser styling with relaxed ergonomics - including swept back handlebars, forward-set footpegs, and a host of electronic rider aids. The upcoming model will only be unveiled at the India Bike Week, and the launch and price announcement will be sometime early next year.
The Bonneville Speedmaster is powered by the same engine as the Bobber and the Bonneville T120 but with some minor differences. The high-torque, 1200 cc parallel-twin engine makes 76 bhp of power at 6,100 rpm and 106 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. Triumph says the Speedmaster makes up to 10 per cent more torque at 4,500 rpm than the T120, and 2 per cent more peak torque. With a dry weight of 245.5 kg, the Speedmaster will also be the heaviest model in the Bonneville series.

The Speedmaster is expected to be officially launched in India sometime around March 2018, and that's when prices of the new model will be announced. It will be the most affordable cruiser in the Triumph motorcycle line-up, so we expect prices to be around Rs. 11-12 lakh (ex-showroom). Globally, the Speedmaster name has been around for some time in Triumph's line-up, but this is the first time this model will be launched in India. Of course, the new Bonneville Speedmaster is an all-new model, and Triumph Motorcycles India will be expecting quite a response from the Speedmaster once it's launched in India. Of course, the unveiling at India Bike Week will give a fair idea about the response to this new cruiser from Triumph.
The India Bike Week 2017 will be one of the largest biking festivals in Asia and will be held in Goa on November 24-25, 2017. This year's edition is the fifth India Bike Week, and over 18,000 bikers are expected to participate in the event. More than 200 motorcycle clubs are also expected to attend the two-day motorcycle festival.
