Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the highly-anticipated sub-compact SUV, has been finally launched in India at a starting price of Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Vitara Brezza, inspired by the bigger Vitara SUV, gets a well-designed body and the trusted 1.3-litre diesel engine under its hood. The Maruti Vitara Brezza goes up against mighty segment stalwart, the Ford EcoSport, and the Mahindra TUV300 that was launched last September. Here's how the Brezza compares to its primary rivals.

The Mahindra TUV300 also boasts of the longest wheelbase among the three and the 2680mm wheelbase enables it to be the only 7-seater of the lot. The Ford EcoSport, with its 2520mm wheelbase, comes in at 2nd whereas the Vitara Brezza trails the pack in 3rd place thanks to its 2500mm wheelbase. It's important to note that the Brezza is just 20mm shy of the EcoSport in terms of wheelbase. In terms of ground clearance, the Ford EcoSport stands 200mm of the ground whereas the Vitara Brezza and TUV300 come in at 198mm and 190mm respectively.

Features
The Maruti Vitara Brezza comes with upmarket features like projector headlamps with auto on/off, LED light guides, rear combination lamps, a touchscreen infotainment system with SmartPlay and Apple CarPlay 9segment first), inbuilt Mapcare navigation, keyless entry with push button start, cruise control, cooled upper glovebox, sliding front armrest and a reverse parking camera. In the safety department, the Vitara Brezza comes with a driver-side as standard and includes front passenger airbags and ABS with EBD as an option even on base variants. Other cosmetic additions include unique bumper mounted turn indicators, plastic under body cladding, roof rails and a trendy dual-tone colour scheme as an option. The Brezza will also come with a number of customization options.
The Ford EcoSport offers similar features including restyled headlamps that are now fitted with LED DRL guides. Other features include a multimedia system coupled with a screen, Bluetooth connectivity, automatic climate control, key-less entry, steering mounted controls, new fog lamps, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel and vehicle start-stop button. On the safety front, the vehicle gets 6 airbags on top-spec variants, Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and rear parking sensors.
As for the Mahindra TUV300, the SUV is the least flashy among the three. Brandished by the company as a true blue SUV, the TUV300 features a smart front grille with chrome inserts, follow-me-home and lead-me-to-vehicle headlamps, a twin-pod instrument cluster, intelligent 2-DIN infotainment system with display screen, Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity, Mahindra BLUE SENSE, driver information system (DIS), voice messaging system (VMS), micro-hybrid technology and steering mounted audio and telephony controls. As for safety features, the TUV300 comes with driver and co-passenger airbags along with ABS and EBD.

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is powered by a 200 DDiS 1.3-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum of 88.5bhp and a peak toque of 200Nm. Transmission duties will be performed by a 5-speed manual gearbox with no automatic transmission on offer as of now.

The 1.5 litre Ti-VCT unit churns out 110bhp of power and develops 140 Nm or torque, whereas the 1.0 litre Eco boost unit produces 123bhp of power and develops 170 Nm of torque. The sole 1.5-litre oil burner churns out a class leading 100bhp and 205 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 5-speed manual gearbox in the 1.0 L petrol and 1.5-L diesel units. An automatic gearbox is also available but only on the 1.5 litre petrol variant.
Mahindra TUV300
The TUV300 is powered by a sole 1.5-litre mHawk80 diesel engine that comes in two power tunes for manual and AMT variants. The manual variant makes 84bhp, whereas the one AMT-paired unit churns out 81bhp. Both versions develop a peak torque of 230 Nm.
