Hyundai Tucson India Launch Postponed; New Date Revealed

Hyundai Motor India has deferred the India launch of the new Hyundai Tucson from August 4, 2022, to August 10, 2022. The company commenced the pre-bookings of the Hyundai Tucson on July 18, 2022, at an initial token amount of Rs. 50,000. The Hyundai Tucson will be available in two variants – Platinum and Signature – with two engine options – a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel. Both engines are solely available with automatic gearboxes as standard with the diesel also getting the option of all-wheel drive.

The Hyundai Tucson features an all-new design inside and out being one of Hyundai’s first models globally to get the company’s new Sensual Sportiness design language. The SUV features several cuts and creases along its exterior surfaces giving the SUV an edgier design compared to the outgoing model. The nose is dominated by Hyundai Parametric Jewel Design grille with a darkened chrome finish flanked on either side by L-shaped segmented LED DRLS. The cabin up front features a split-cockpit look with a 10.25-inch touchscreen dominating the centre console with a second similar-sized free-standing unit sitting behind the steering. Hyundai is offering a choice of five single tones and two dual-tone colour options for Tucson.

Moving to the equipment, the highlight of the new Tucson will be its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. Hyundai is offering level 2 ADAS tech on board the Tucson with the SUV capable of identifying other cars, two-wheelers, and pedestrians in its path and taking avoidance measures. The SUV also packs in blind-spot and cross-traffic collision warning and avoidance functions along with lane keep assist and smart cruise control with stop and go. Another notable tech on offer includes a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitoring, BlueLink connected vehicle tech, Bose Audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, powered front seats, hands-free tailgate opening, and more.

The safety kit includes six airbags, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill start assist, hill descent control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. On the engine front, the Tucson is available with either a 154 bhp 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol or a 184 bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine. The petrol is available with a 6-speed automatic while the diesel uses an 8-speed automatic as standard. The diesel also gets the option of all-wheel drive in the Signature variant.
