Hyundai Sets 7 Lakh Car Sales Target For 2018
Highlights
- It will look to achieve this target on the back of its successful line-up
- Hyundai will also launch the new Santro and Carlino
- Hyundai i20 facelift could debut at the Auto Expo 2018
After a very good year in terms of new car sales in 2017, Hyundai Motor India Limited, the country's second-largest automaker has set an ambitious but completely achievable sales target of seven lakh new cars for the year 2018. The target was announced at an internal conference by Hyundai top management recently. Hyundai will look to achieve this target on the back of its successful line-up of current cars like the Creta or i20 that are due a major facelift and the likes of the Grand i10, Xcent or the Verna both of which have seen updates in the year 2017 already.

Hyundai will also rely heavily on the two big new launches that it will have in 2018. The first of course will be the new Santro, a small and affordable but tech packed hatchback that is expected to make its debut in India soon and most likely replace the aging Eon hatchback. The car was originally expected at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo but reports suggest that Hyundai will not be unveiling it there and will choose to do it at a later date instead. The new car will be priced at just around the Rs. 3.5- Rs. 4 lakh mark which might make it more expensive than the Eon.
The other big launch, and possibly as awaited if not more, from Hyundai this year will be the new sub 4-metre, subcompact SUV. At the 2016 Indian Auto Expo Hyundai did showcase an SUV concept called the Carlino and we would not be surprised if the Korean auto giant followed up with a production version (with the same name or otherwise) at the upcoming 2018 Expo. The subcompact SUV will go up against the likes of the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V, Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV 300. The new SUV will take inspiration from the likes of the i20 in terms of features and should most certainly be a very strong sales driver for Hyundai.

Hyundai will also be updating the current lineup in India - particularly the i20 hatchback and the Creta compact SUV. We have already seen quite a few spy pictures of both cars in recent weeks with production ready bodies being tested. We would not be surprised if the i20 facelift would make its debut at the Indian Auto Expo too.
