The Hyundai Santro is one of the oldest nameplates on sale in India. The new-generation model was launched in 2018 and is sold in nine variants across six trims - Era Executive, Magna Executive, Magna, Sportz Executive, Sportz and Asta. On the inside, it is equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is equipped with smartphone connectivity and supports Apple Car Play and Android Auto.it is powered by a 1.1-litre Epsilon MPI engine tuned to make 68 bhp and 99 Nm. The CNG version of the car develops 58 bhp and 84 Nm of power figures. The petrol variants get a 5-speed manual transmission with an optional AMT unit whereas the CNG model gets only a 5-speed gearbox.
Maruti Suzuki WagonR
The Maruti Suzuki WagonR has been one of the bestselling models in India since inceptions. It has received two-generation updates so far and the third generation model that came in 2019 is offered with two petrol powertrain options. First up, is the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder motor that is shared with the S-Presso and then is the Swift sourced 1.2-litre, four-cylinder K-Series petrol engine. It also gets the Smartplay Studio 2.0 touchscreen infotainment system while safety features like front airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors are standard.
Maruti Suzuki S-Presso
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso too rivals the likes of the Hyundai Santro. It's a comparatively rugged option in the entry-level segment, courtesy its SUVish design language and is aimed at buyers who prefer a more robust looking car. It too gets the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder motor under its hood and it mated to either a five-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Even the S-Presso gets the Smartplay Studio 2.0 touchscreen infotainment system while safety features like front airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors are standard.
Renault Kwid
The BS6 Renault Kwid with the 0.8-litre motor belts out 53 bhp and 72 Nm of peak torque, while the 1.0-litre version belts out 67 bhp and 91 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes mated to five-speed manual or an AMT transmission and in addition to other features, also gets a touchscreen unit that supports Bluetooth connectivity.

The Tata Tiago hatchback has been extremely well received in the country. In fact, recently the company added a new variant to the line-up XT(O). Based on the XT trim, the new variant will be available with only a manual transmission as per the details listed on the official website. Moreover, it is positioned in between the base XE and mid XT trims. It is powered by the 1.2-litre BS6 Revotron petrol engine and churns out 85 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes paired with a five-speed manual transmission as standard while an AMT unit is optional.
