  • Has dual-motor RWD with 670+ bhp and 900+ Nm torque.

Hyundai's N division shared its vision on electrification at the Busan International Motor show by unveiling 2 cars, the RN22e - which is essentially a hotter version of the Ioniq 6 - and the N Vision 74 concept. Both of these cars are 'rolling labs', meaning that they will serve as platforms for all the experimentation before Hyundai's N division launches its first electric offerings in the market. Until that happens, let's feast our eyes on the looks of the N Vision 74, and it is quite the looker!

If you're thinking that the N Vision 74 looks similar to the DeLorean DMC 12 which starred in the movie franchise 'Back To The Future', you're right, and there's some history to that. The Hyundai N Vision 74's design is based on the Hyundai Pony Coupe concept from 1974, which was developed by the legendary car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. The car never reached a production stage, and Giugiaro later sold the design to DeLorean. While the recently unveiled DeLorean Alpha5 is quite different from the original design, the Hyundai N Vision 74 has a much closer design to the Pony Coupe, which this electric car pays homage to. With the launch of the Ioniq 5, Hyundai said that it was inspired from the Pony. We didn't see the resemblance then, but it is surely more than apparent in this case. The electric supercar also gets 'Parametric Pixel lighting' which was first seen on the Ioniq 5, and it goes wonderfully with the modern-retro look.

The car is just 1,331 mm tall, and being 4,952 mm in length and having a 2,905 mm wheelbase, the car has an unmistakeable silhouette. The car has tons of sharp lines all over its body, and has drag reducing wheel covers giving it a very aggressive and purposeful look. But that's not all in the department. At the back, the car has a massive rear wing and a huge diffuser. A slatted rear window and wide wheel arches only add to the visual drama of a design which we were already sold on.

While we established that the N Vision 74 is indeed electric, it has an interesting 'hybrid' electric drivetrain under its body. The car has a 62.4 kWh battery pack which which has a 800-V architecture, allowing it to go from 10-80% charge in less than 20 minutes. Not just that, the car also has a Hydrogen fuel cell which weighs just 4.2 kg, and it takes only 5 minutes to refuel the hydrogen tank. This makes the car a hybrid of FCEV and BEV. The car not only uses this to get an outright range advantage, but the electronics decide upon the source of energy depending on the usage. With the battery charged to full & the Hydrogen tank fuelled up, the N Vision 74 can deliver a range of over 600 km.

The Hyundai N Vision 74 has a twin-motor setup, both of them drive individual rear wheels, making this an RWD car. Hyundai said that they will be working on an AWD car too, which will have better acceleration, but the output figures on the RWD-only model are absolutely crazy too! The electric supercar has over 670 bhp on offer, and has a peak torque figure in excess of 900 Nm. All of that going to the rear wheels will mean that this will be an absolutely entertaining machine to drive. The top speed of the car is a claimed 250 kmph, and the car also makes use of the dual rear motors to deliver torque vectoring, which will make this car even more exciting in the corners.

We may be quite a while away from a production model, but the Hyundai N Vision 74 surely has our hearts racing. Visual drama, mix of retro-modern looks, over the top power and torque figures, sustainably driven powertrain, and a big fat rear wing, this supercar has everything, and we can only hope to see this car enter production soon.
