Hyderabad-Based EV Start-Up Firm Installs 250 Solar-Powered Charging Stations Across India

Hyderabad-based electric vehicle start-up, Atum Charge, has completed the installation of 250 EV charging stations across the country, within six months. The company installed solar-powered EV charging stations in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Odisha, and West Bengal. Most charging stations were installed in Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra, with 48, 44, and 36 units respectively. With a focus to encourage EV adoption in the country, Atum Charge chose to spread awareness in Tier 1 and Tier 2 towns and cities first and will follow it by expanding its network into additional cities and states.

Vamsi Gaddam, Founder, Atum Charge said, “With the launch of 250 Atum Charge EV charging stations, we have renewed our pledge to support the EV ecosystem in India. The steady phasing out of thermal power stations and replacing them with solar-powered stations is our end goal. We aim for zero emissions, net-zero facilities, a sustainable network, and a greener forever.”
The solar-powered EV charging stations support 4 KW capacity panels that can charge up to 10-12 vehicles in a day, with each charge of a two, three, or four-wheeler EVs taking about 6-8 hours on an average. The company plans to install an additional 6 KW capacity, allowing it to charge 25-30 vehicles per day.

Atum's solar roof integrated EV charging stations are said to be a first of a kind in the world, as it enables charge from solar power instead of thermal power used by conventional EVs. The company also says that this process would be more economical in the long run enabling a green power source.
