Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 Spotted Testing In Europe
Highlights
- The Svartpilen 701 is based on the KTM 690 Duke
- It could be launched in Europe towards the end of 2018
- The Vitpilen 701 has already been launched in Europe
Globally, Husqvarna has three models in its 'Pilen' range. There is the Vitpilen 701 (White Arrow) along with the Vitpilen 401 and the Svartpilen 401. So, the quartet will soon be complete with the introduction of the Svartpilen 701 (Black Arrow). The Svartpilen 701 is basically an urban enduro, which gets a slightly different styling than the Vitpilen 701. The handlebar is different along with a more upright instrument console and dual-purpose tyres which could tackle off-road terrain as well. The steel trellis frame is the same on both bikes and so is the WP suspension unis along with the Brembo brakes setup. Ride-by-wire and slipper clutch will be common to the Svartpilen and the Vitpilen 701.

The 701 models use the same engine as the one on the KTM 690 Duke while the 401 models use the engine on the KTM 390 Duke. In fact, Bajaj, which owns KTM, could look at introducing these Huskies in India by 2020. The 701's 693 cc single-cylinder engine makes 73 bhp and gets the full range of features such as ABS, traction control, quick-shifter and an auto-blipper. We expect the Svartpilen 701 be launched in Europe towards the end of 2018 and reach dealerships in early 2019.

In fact, the Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 701 have already been spotted testing in India. Also, it will first launch the 401s and then bring in the bigger 701s.
