Husqvarna Motorcycles Achieve Record Sales For Fourth Year In A Row

Husqvarna Motorcycles has ended the 2017 business year, selling 20 per cent more motorcycles during the January to December, 2017 period. The KTM-owned manufacturer of premium motorcycles also reported a growth in annual turnover by 25 per cent compared to the previous year. In all, 36,883 Husqvarna motorcycles were sold in 2017, with the brand achieving a record-breaking worldwide turnover of 250 million Euros (nearly Rs. 2,000 crore). The Swedish motorcycle brand has been on a roll for four consecutive years now, and the latest sales and turnover figures have surpassed all previous numbers.

In 2017, Husqvarna Motorcycles introduced the next generation of fuel-injected two-stroke machines. Known for their expertise in manufacturing off-road motorcycles, Husqvarna also updated its range of enduro and motocross bikes in 2017. Husqvarna also has unveiled the production versions of the company's new range of street motorcycles in Vitpilen and Svartpilen series. The Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401, based on the KTM 390 Duke engine, as well as the Vitpilen 701 will be available in dealers in the first half of 2018.

Originally founded in Sweden in 1903, Husqvarna Motorcycles have been designed and manufactured in Mattinghofen, Austria since 2013. Husqvarna is owned by KTM and Bajaj Auto owns 48 per cent of KTM. Last year, Bajaj Auto and KTM announced the global roll out of Husqvarna motorcycles sometime in 2018. The idea is to take the brand global and scale up the business multiple times. Production of the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, which share the KTM 390 Duke's engine, is expected to be transferred to Bajaj Auto's Chakan factory, and manufactured here in India for the world.
