Huge Automobile Companies That We Currently Miss In Formula 1

The F1 is the topmost class of track racing in the world, but as good as it sounds it is very challenging to get into it and even harder to sustain in it. Well, lets take a sneak peek into some automobile giants we currently miss in F1.

There are many teams which made debut in Formula1 but could not stay there for long due to some reasons. Some were successful while others failed but all of us know F1 is not an easy sport to sustain, and not all commercially successful automobile giants are experts at track racing. So here are some automobile firms we currently don't see in Formula 1. Lotus: Photo Credit: media.lamborghini.com Lotus had a relatively successful career in F1, debuted in 1958 Monaco Grand Prix to 1994 Australian Grand Prix lotus had a total of 79 podiums and 71 fastest laps. Lotus got success in racing during driver Jim Clark's 3-year career with Lotus. Jim Clark dominated the 1963 and 1965 seasons of Formula1 with a total of 9 wins during his career with lotus. Lotus was a small sized team compared to its rival that made its success surprising. Lamborghini: Lamborghini joined Formula 1 for a short time, from 1989 -1993. Instead of being called Lamborghini, the team's name was Modena. The team managed to get one podium finish at the 1990 Japanese Grand Prix. It did manage to get a few points but that was not enough to establish dominance in the game. Therefore, Lamborghini was not for a long in F1. Porsche Photo Credit: www.porsche.com Porsche begun taking steps in motorsports when Ferdinand Porsche designed Grand Prix cars in the 1920s. Porsche joined the Footwork team for six races in 1991. But the engines it manufactured were underpowered and overweight. But here is the good news, Porsche maybe joining the Formula1 anytime soon but nothing has been confirmed yet. BMW Photo Credit: www.bmwblog.com BMW began its Formula1 career in 1982 with sponsorship from the Brazilian bank Brahma but could not last long due to financial reasons and withdrew their team. But soon in 1985 they returned to the formula1 with full factory support and even managed to win 8 races in their first two seasons. High cost made BMW withdrew their name from F1 in 1991 but they came back in 2000 with a new re-designed car. The team managed to secure their first comeback win in 2004 and ended their f1 career after 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Jaguar: Photo Credit: www.jaguar.in Jaguar racing came into existence in 1999 when Ford took over a Formula 1 team and rebranded it. However, Jaguar ´s engineering end was weak, so the team was not so successful. The team managed two podium positions but was unable to secure any wins. Then, Red Bull Racing took over the team in 2005 .
