Those who drive a lot are always on the lookout for newer ways to achieve comfort. This issue doesn't occur with those who drive luxurious cars. However, discomfort is often experienced during long drives by those who drive mainstream vehicles. Manufacturers are rectifying this by adding several comfort features to such cars these days. Among those are ventilated seats that really make a big difference to the driving experience. If you want to learn about them in detail, you've come to the right place.

To put it simply, ventilated seats are ACs for your backs. One of the most common problems that people experience during long drives in hot conditions is that even though the AC is keeping the temperature inside the car pleasant, they still experience sweating on their backs. That's because the material on the seats traps heat and this can really increase the discomfort of drivers. The same goes for when the conditions outside are cold and you have turned the heat up in the car.

Ventilated seats can be classified under three categories:

1. Cooled seats: These seats contain plenty of small fans to circulate air through a layer of material that diffuses it towards the body through the perforated or mesh upholstery. And this particular air is either refrigerated through the car's regular AC system or a separate cooling element.

2. Ventilated seats: Remove the cooling element and the refrigeration and you get regular ventilated seats. These are quite uncommon but they do exist for those who just prefer regular air being blown from their seats.

3. Heated seats: Heated seats also have fans inside them for blowing air through the cushion but they place a heating element in between the two to allow that air to get heated.

Cars with any kind of ventilated seats give you the option of turning them on and off and even let you adjust the force of the air. Some modern cars are even equipped with seats that turn on their ventilation when remote start is used if the outside temperature is hot. The combination of the air conditioning and ventilated seats leads to an extremely comfortable driving experience.

Now that you know everything about them, the choice is up to you. Consider the kind of driving scenarios you are going to have before making the choice of investing additional money in a car model with ventilated seats.
