How Do You Transfer Vehicle Ownership From One State To Another?

The registration of a vehicle is the process of notifying the state that you own a vehicle and intend to use it lawfully on the road. In exchange, your state's government certifies whether the vehicle may be used by providing your vehicle with an identifying number.

You need to floor the steps mentioned below:

    1. Get a NOC from the RTO of the original state by submitting Form 28 to the RTO.

    1. The prior RTO's NOC must feature the vehicle's original chassis imprint.

    1. The vehicle can be physically transported from one state to another after receiving the NOC.

    1. Along with the documents mentioned above, submit the application to the new RTO under which your domicile in the new state falls.
    2. Forms 20 and 27 can be obtained from the RTO in your new state by submitting the NOC obtained from the original state.

    3. Complete Forms 20, 27, and 28 (NOC) and submit them to the new RTO.

    4. Please submit copies of your insurance and pollution certificates, as well as the original registration certificate (RC) from your previous state.

    5. The new RTO will issue you a Road Tax Challan for the new state you have migrated to. Pay the relevant road tax at the payment desk and obtain a receipt.
    6. Your vehicle will be inspected by an RTO inspector, who will make a chassis impression on one of the documents.

    7. Once you've completed all of this, you'll receive an acknowledging slip with a deadline for picking up your new registration number and RC card.
