HOP OXO Electric Motorcycle Receives ARAI Certification

India's automotive R&D organisation, the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), has certified HOP Electric's soon-to-be launched high-speed electric motorcycle, the HOP OXO. According to a statement from HOP Electric, the company's flagship e-bike OXO has successfully cleared all tests conducted by the ARAI, including AIS 156 for batteries. The ARAI certification comes on the heels of HOP Electric's successful mandate of the Government of India's ambitious Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme under the new Non-Automotive Investor (OEM) category, the company added. Under this mandate, HOP Electric will be investing more than Rs. 2,000 crore in India in the next five years.

HOP Electric Mobility recently closed a strategic round of $ 2.6 million as part of an ongoing $ 10 million pre-series fundraiser. The company reached 130 retail touchpoints with more than 6,200 on-road sooters in 2021. With the latest funding, the company targets 10 times growth this year. According to the company, the HOP OXO has been designed and developed indigenously, in accordance with Faster Adoption and Manufacture of EVs (FAME II) norms.
