Highlights

Honda has launched a brand new motorcycle in India via its BigWing dealership network, and this time its a street fighter named CB300F. The CB300F gets a new 293 cc engine, and unlike what its name suggests, it is not based on the CB300R cafe racer currently on sale in India. The 293 cc single-cylinder engine puts out 24.1 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 25.6 Nm torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission, and the motorcycle is also equipped with a slip and assist clutch. Braking duties are handled by a 276 mm disc at the front and 220 mm at the rear, and the street fighter is also equipped with dual-channel ABS. In terms of suspension, the CB300F is equipped with a pair of golden coloured USD fork up front, and has a 5-step adjustable monoshock at the rear.

The CB300F gets LED lighting all around, and is also equipped with a full digital instrument cluster with 5 levels of brightness. The motorcycle also gets a USB charging socket, and has split seats. Adding to the list of features is Honda's Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) traction control system. The Honda CB300F is priced between Rs. 2.26 lakh and Rs. 2.29 lakh (ex-showroom). At this pricing, the Honda CB300F goes up against the likes of the KTM Duke 250, Bajaj Dominar 400, and Suzuki Gixxer 250. Lets take a look at how it stacks up against them in terms of pricing.

    KTM Duke 250

KTM first launched the Duke 200 in India in 2012, and it took the Indian market by storm. It was soon followed by the launch of the insanely powerful Duke 390, which - for the level of performance it packed - had a rather low price tag. Since then, the KTM Duke has now entered its second generation in India, and KTM has also added a model that sits between those two displacements, the Duke 250.

The KTM Duke 250 gets a 249 cc engine which puts out a healthy 29.6 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 24 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. The motorcycle has aggressive looks which may not be to everyone's liking, but it sure offers its unique appeal. The Duke 250 is priced at Rs. 2.37 lakh (ex-showroom), making it slightly costlier than the CB300F, but for that extra money, you also get that much extra performance, and a similar feature list.

    Bajaj Dominar 400

The Bajaj Dominar 400 has garnered its own fanbase in India, as the naked tourer offers a distinctive flavour, which is not matched by many in its price range. It gets an engine which is derived from that of the KTM Duke 390, but it is also much heaver than the KTM, keeping its performance slightly muted. The 373.3 cc engine puts out a strong 39.5 bhp at 8,800 rpm, and 35 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm making it the most powerful of this comparison. The Bajaj Dominar 400 is priced at Rs. 2.24 lakh, which is in the same ballpark as that of the CB300F.

    Suzuki Gixxer 250

Suzuki Gixxer 250 is the most accessible motorcycle of the lot, and it misses out on quite a few features over its rivals. The Gixxer 250 is powered by a 249 cc engine which puts out 26.1 bhp at 9,300 rpm and 22.2 Nm torque at 7,300 rpm. The Gixxer 250 is priced at Rs. 1.81 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it considerably cheaper than the CB300F, and while it misses out on some tech, it offers a similar level of performance.
