Honda Cars India Records 4 Per Cent Sales Growth In December 2018
Highlights
Honda Cars India has announced their sales number for December 2018. The Japanese carmaker has registered a growth of 4 per cent selling 13,139 units of passenger vehicles in December 2018 against 12,642 units it sold in the same month last year. Honda has posted a cumulative growth of 3.7 per cent selling 134,797 units of passenger vehicles between April-December period in 2018 against 129,964 units it sold in the same period last year.
Speaking on the sales growth, Rajesh Goel, Senior Vice President and Director, Sales and Marketing, Honda Cars India said, "The market continued to remain challenging in December. However, with lucrative year-end offers on many of our models and strong performance of new models Amaze and CR-V, HCIL recorded 4% sales growth in December 2018. We are thankful to our customers to have continued faith in the Honda brand."
2018 started with healthy growth in the sales passenger vehicles after recovering from the impact of GST transitions in 2017. However, the sales later started tapering when the retail fuel prices went up touching a record high which was coupled with other macro-economic factors like the increasing interest rates and onetime payment of insurance premium. However, retail fuel prices have been restored which is now likely to offset the impact that high fuel prices had on the car sales.
