The 2022 Honda City e:HEV gets a new self-charging and highly efficient Two electric motor e-CVT hybrid system which in-turn is paired with the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine. It also comes equipped with the Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) with advanced Lithium-ion Battery and an Engine linked direct coupling Clutch. The e:HEV electric-hybrid system gets three driving modes - EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive along with Regeneration mode during deceleration. The car also switches between the three modes automatically depending on the throttle input. The combined power output here is 124 bhp while the system belts out 253 Nm of peak torque, out of which 127 Nm are generated by the petrol engine. Of course, the hybrid tech has also made the City e:HEV more fuel efficient and the overall fuel economy has bettered by around 40 per cent at a claimed 26.5 kmpl.
