The affected motorcycles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 123, which includes "Motorcycle Controls and Displays" and need to be recalled and fixed. The affected motorcycles will display an error message at start-up. In case an owner ignores the message and decides to ride the affected motorcycle anyway, there could be a potential risk of a crash due to the lack of a speedometer and/or neutral indicator.
