If you live in a metropolitan that is underwhelmed on space, you will know exactly how difficult it is to find a free parking location for your car. That's certainly an issue that the whole world can nod their heads to in unison and it seems tech giant Google might be preparing a solution for the same. Going by the beta versions, the next update from Google Maps could tell you where to park your car.

The Google Maps 9.34 update will include this as a feature and will tell the use where free parking spots are available. As a result, you will need to just drive your car to the location and save you a lot of effort, time and fuel in the process. The feature is yet to be made public and was found in the beta version that is out for initial testing.

While this certainly feels like a dream come true for motorists, it isn't clear yet how the company plans to accumulate data with respect to finding free parking spots. The teardown from the application package shows that there are three categories for parking - easy, medium and hard. This could likely mean that the feature would let you know on the generic availability of parking space in a particular area.

The map could guide you to the nearest pay and park or free parking zone. A live update on available parking spots at 'pay and park' outlets would be an interesting addition. That said, it needs to be clarified if the feature will be based on time of the day or specific events.

It is also not clear as to which regions will get this feature as part of the updates and should India expect this feature to work, at least initally. Nevertheless, more details on the Parking feature can be expected as the Beta test is completed.
