Highlights

  • Lyriq was in the pipeline since 2017, as per the sketch
  • The Lyriq has gone into production but will be on the road by 2023
  • The sketch and the production vehicle have some distinct differences

GM has teased a design that the Cadillac design team has come up with on its official Instagram handle. The post states that it is a sketch of an SUV done by Cadillac's lead creative designer Zhou Fang. Many believe that this an early sketch of the Lyriq which is said to be the first electric SUV by Cadillac. Triangular elements on the corners and a sleek roof is a precursor to the roofline that Cadillac could end up producing. Cadillac is also saying that this sketch was done in 2017. This could be in line with Lyriq EV prototype that went into production earlier this year in April.

There are some distinct differences between the sketch and the production vehicle with it having smaller wheels than the sketch. It is also important to note that the prototype as per Cadillac is 85 per cent complete but there may be some changes before the car hits the roads in 2023.

The one thing that hasn't been seen properly is the 33-inch LED display in the cabin. It is said to have 1 billion colours which are unprecedented for a screen within a car, though there is quite a bit of excitement around the feature.
