Geneva Motorshow: Koenigsegg Agera One:1, details revealed
Highlights
Here's another car that is waiting to get on a runway and unleash itself. Last week, we told you about Koenigsegg's new super car - One:1 and now here are the official photos ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motorshow. The 'world's fastest car' crown hangs in the balance as the fight has been taken to a new level.
The Bugatti Veyron Sport still wears the crown of being the fastest production car in the world, but it was outdone recently by the Hennessey Venom GT (not officially though). Now, it is Koenigsegg who wants to topple all records and set a benchmark for the rest to follow.
The Agera One:1 comes with a twin-turbo 5.0-litre V8 which generates 1341bhp and 1370Nm of torques. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch paddle-shift transmission which transfers the power through an electronic diff. Koenigsegg's Agera One:1 becomes the first car to generate one megawatt of power and that is quite an achievement.
The Agera One:1 loses a lot of kilos because of the use of Carbon fiber and the monocoque body which is interwomen by Kevlar. Even the seats and the wheels are composite, and this is why it weighs in at only 1360kgs. Koenigsegg says that the Agera One:1 can go from 0-400km/h in 20 seconds and this is where the aerodynamics of the One:1 come into play.
A hinge-less "dynamic venturi flap" actually flexes beneath the One:1's carbon nose at speeds above 250 km/h to draw more air under the body. Then there is a top-mounted spoiler which is electronically controlled and hydraulically actuated into one of three positions: low drag, braking, and high-downforce. If you look closely, it has a Le-Mans style to it.
Through computer simulations, Koenigsegg says that the Agera One:1 reaches a top speed of 440 km/h but it still awaits the feel of a track. But from what hear, only six will be made and this does not qualify it to the glory of a Guinness record.
