Ford SYNC Infotainment System at Work in EcoSport and Fiesta
Highlights
'A few words. Lots of action'- that's the Ford SYNC for you - an in-car communication and entertainment technology that facilitates navigation, hands-free calling and music entertainment on the go.
Ford created the SYNC infotainment system in collaboration with Microsoft in 2005 and got around to launching it globally in 2007. However, it wasn't till 2013 that SYNC made its Indian debut via the Ford EcoSport. Ford went on to introduce this system in the recently launched new-generation Fiesta.
This system operates offers both, MP3 compatibility and Bluetooh connectivity. The system also connects to the paired phone automatically, as soon as the engine is switched on. Furthermeore, SYNC can also read the phone's address book, and transfer names and numbers to an internal database. That said, the best part about this system is that it doesn't save personal information, so you can be rest assured about the privacy of your data.
SYNC can be connected with multiple phone devices at once, though one of those device will need to be selected as the 'favorite'. Also, Ford SYNC does not only read out text messages and commonly used phrases, but also allows you to play voice messages. Then there's also a 3.2-inch SYNC touch-screen integrated into the centre console that displays the current mode and status.
For better voice control, Ford has provided a microphone flush-mounted near the rear view mirror. Along with hands-free calling, SYNC also supports various other features available on mobiles, like call waiting, conference calling, caller ID, call-log, and displays signal strength, and the battery charge icon. The transfer of calls from the user's phone to SYNC and vice-versa is smooth, and is done automatically as soon as the engine starts or stops.
