Keeping up with the popularity of crossovers, Ford India has launched the new Freestyle crossover and the model aspires to lend you the practicality of a hatchback in the city with the capability of an SUV. The Ford Freestyle is based on the Figo but gets plenty upgrades to differentiate from the latter, both aesthetically and mechanically as well. Cosmetically, the Ford Freestyle is identical but with ample of upgrades, while the ground clearance has been increased to 190 mm. Engine options include the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol from the Dragon series, and the 1.5-litre diesel. Both motors are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, while the option of an automatic is missed for now. Ford Freestyle Ambiente: Petrol - Rs. 5.09 lakh; Diesel - Rs. 6.09 lakh

Available in four trims, the base trim on the Ford Freestyle is called Ambiente and is pretty loaded with all the essentials including blacked out headlamps, mesh grille, additional body cladding, roof rail and skid plates. The Ambient trim drives on 15-inch steel wheels as part of the package. Inside, the Freestyle comes with a black finished cabin, adjustable headrests; front power windows, keyless entry, MID unit with distance-to-empty, low fuel indicator and a trip computer apart from the odometer and a tachometer. Ford has kept the safety tech standard across the line-up and you get dual airbags, ABS and EBD right from the base trim. The Ambiente variant though misses out on the touchscreen infotainment system and instead gets only reverse parking sensors.

Ford Freestyle Trend: Petrol - Rs. 5.99 lakh; Diesel - Rs. 6.99 lakh

Sitting above the base model, the Ford Freestyle Trend variant adds features like blackened pillars and ORVM mounted turn indicators; as well as more a rear view camera to the model. The cabin also comes with premium Sienna upholstery for the seats, rear parcel tray, chrome finished parking brake and fabric trim on the doors. There are power windows at the front and rear, four speakers, follow-me-home headlamps, and the tachometer with a gearshift indicator. The audio system has been upgraded to a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system that offers USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity along with navigation, while the car also gets steering mounted audio controls.

Ford Freestyle Titanium: Petrol - Rs. 6.39 lakh; Diesel - Rs. 7.35 lakh

The titanium trim we reckon is what most buyers will opt for and is quite loaded on the feature front with the addition of electrically adjustable ORVMs, 15-inch alloy wheels and rear window washer and wiper. The Freestyle also comes with the dual-tone interiors, height adjustable driver's seat, push-button start, auto climate control, and active rollover protection. As we told you earlier, the car gets ABS, EBD and dual airbags as standard across the line-up, but the additions are significant and include Hill Start Assist, ESP and traction control.

Ford Freestyle Titanium+: Petrol - Rs. 6.94 lakh; Diesel - Rs. 7.89 lakh

Loaded with all the bells and whistles, the Ford Freestyle Titanium+ trim remains identical to the Titanium trim in appearance but gets a host of new goodies include Ford's SYNC3 system with voice control and Emergency Assist. The infotainment system also offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. There's also auto headlamp function, rain sensing wipers, Ford's MyKey and two USB ports. The range-topping Titanium+ variant gets a total of six airbags.
