Ford EcoSport Minor Update Coming; Major Model Facelift Only By Diwali
Highlights
- The update will largely include tech changes and some accessories
- There will be no styling or structural changes on the car
- The SUV's major midlife facelift will arrive only by Diwali 2017
The Ford EcoSport subcompact SUV had received minor updates last year and we're all set to see a facelift coming up on October 29, 2017. While the former was largely tech changes and some accessories the facelift which will be launched next month will have more than just that. Ford has been wanting to get the better of he Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza for a while now and had even offered a major price correction on the EcoSport to ensure it remains an attractive proposition with respect to Maruti's pricing. But that strategy hasn't really worked as the Brezza, with its sole diesel engine is selling like hot cakes. Ford, however, wants to change all of that with the upcoming facelift.

We had told you about the much-awaited facelift on the EcoSport late last year, and the car was unveiled publicly at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. The facelift will also be exported to the US from India. Up front, the 2017 EcoSport facelift comes with a new grille with beefier slats and chrome details. On either side of it, we have sleek horizontal headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The biggest change is the new front bumper that now comes with prominent lines and new angular foglamps. The bonnet design has also been tweaked a little to give the SUV an aggressive stance. The EcoSport gets a new set of alloy wheels, larger roof rails, revised ORVMs and a slightly redesigned tailgate.

Expect Ford to also provide customers with customisation options which will be retrofitted by Ford's vehicle personalisation centre at its Chennai plant. Expect a minor price increase for the variants as well, but to make it work, Ford will need to price it extremely competitively.
