Fiat Aegea Revealed; to Replace Linea

Fiat, the Italian carmaker, today, unveiled an all-new compact sedan - the Aegea - at the 2015 Istanbul Motor Show. The vehicle is said to be the successor of the Linea, which has now reached the end of its product life cycle.

    Fiat, the Italian carmaker, today, unveiled an all-new compact sedan - the Aegea - at the 2015 Istanbul Motor Show. The vehicle is said to be the successor of the Linea, which has now reached the end of its product life cycle.

    Designed at FCA Style and Centre, Italy, the Fiat Aegea will be manufactured at the company's Bursa factor in Turkey. The Turkey plant will become the production hub for the new sedan, as the company will export this vehicle to over 40 countries from the same facility. Though there is no clarity if Fiat will launch it in India or not, the slow-selling Linea, definitely, needs a new-gen model or a successor at the earliest.

    Coming to the dimensions, the Fiat Aegea is 4.5 metres long, 1.78 metres wide, 1.48 metres high and has 2.64 metres of wheelbase. The boot space capacity, too, is decent at 510-litres. At the unveiling, the company also revealed that the Fiat Aegea will be made available in two diesel and two petrol engines, and the most fuel-efficient version of the car will return 25km/l of mileage.

    As far as the features are concerned, the Aegea will surely be a lot richer than before as it will get a Uconnect infotainment system that will have a 5-inch touch-screen display. The infotainment system supports TomTom satellite navigation, audio streaming, hands-free bluetooth, text reader, voice recognition, USB, AUX and iPod. Other key features are - steering mounted control buttons and rear-view camera.

    The Fiat Aegea will be first launched in Turkey in November 2015.
